About Us

Pack 139 has brought the fun of cub scouting to the Monterey Hills area of South Pasadena, California, for over 40 years. Current membership consists of approximately 30 boys in first through fifth grades.  Our organization is entirely run by parents. They contribute their time by signing up as committee members or as organizers of events, in addition to working with fellow den members on progressing towards ranks.

We have monthly pack meetings during the school year, usually on the 3rd Thursday at 7:00pm in the Monterey Hills School (MHS) Multi-Purpose Room. During these meetings, cub scouts participate in flag ceremonies, receive awards, enjoy interactive stories told by the cubmaster, do skits, and learn about useful topics that reinforce core scout values. Dens meet regularly to work on achievements which, upon completion, enable the scouts to earn ranks.

Our annual events include the Halloween Carnival, Blue and Gold Dinner, and Pinewood Derby. There are many opportunities for camping and hiking as well. Our annual fundraiser takes place in the fall where we organize and run the Halloween Carnival at MHS. The proceeds fund the cost of our annual events, pack supplies, and web hosting.

Pack 139 gives to the community through an annual Toy and Food Drive every December. We also have an ongoing recycling program at every pack meeting.

Member recruitment is done at the beginning of each school year. We have a booth at MHS' Round-Up where we provide information to parents and students interested in scouting.
